  : Staff at the reception were unfriendly. They simply don't care. I wondered why until when I checked out where the manager was there - that manager was very unhelpful and even aggressive when I asked for my receipt. That explained why the reception team was less quality in service. Anyway, I was made feeling very uncomfortable interacting with the reception staff. I am a world traveler and I have definitely seen more professional and friendly hotel receptions. In fact, it was very unusual to run into such unfriendly reception staff in Berkeley. The room allocated to me was very low floor facing the traffic despite I emphasized that I need a quiet room after long travel and for work that week. After I dragged all my luggage up walked to the end of long corridor, I realized it was such a noisy room which was unacceptable. I had to go all the way back to the reception, but no one apologized - I was interrogated as why do I need a quiet room... The gave another room in the end facing the quiet side, which I am grateful. But that room had windows half open installed a very noise air extractor. I didn't want to have more interactions with the reception staff so I took that room and stayed there for the week. This hotel is just out of date. I wouldn't stay there again - you just know you will not have a good time. The strange atmosphere at the reception, the noise, the heat and the crowds.One of the lift was out of function for the whole week causing the guests so many inconvenience but they did not apologize or try to make amendments which is not a surprise.I didn't plan to write reviews as it costs time, but the strange feeling the hotel reception and manager has left on me was just scary making one wonder why such hotels still has business in this modern world at central Berkeley.
