: Our balcony had a perfect view of the beach and coastline, including the beautiful sunsets at Clearwater.
: It would be great if pool bar or outside restaurant had iced coffee drinks. Aside from that I wouldn't have to leave the resort ground except to walk the beach!

: Having travelled 4000 miles with my family and having researched the hotel in detail (with the help of the booking.com reviews and the glossy Opal Sands brochure), I had a fair expectation that we would be arriving at a luxury beach resort. There are plenty of things that Opal Sands do well. Some, not so well. Notably, when arriving at the property, we were surprised to see the porte cochère blocked by a huge steel bridge, connecting Opal Sands to its sister property, Opal Sol. The latter is undergoing a large-scale construction right next to Opal Sands, in readiness for the new hotel to open in 2025. At the time of booking, neither the booking.com website nor the Opal Sands brochure said anything about the construction. Indeed both sites showed Opal Sands with pre-construction photos.On arrival, having discussed the construction issue with Reception, although it was a non-cancellation room, the hotel offered us the right to cancel right away. Not a viable option as it would not be possible to find a comparable hotel to house a family at such short notice. They also offered us $300 compensation. Not enough to compensate for the daily drilling and construction noise waking us up at 7am every morning. Not the luxury family holiday we were anticipating. Even if there is no duty of care to inform prospective guests about the construction, it is highly unconscionable for a supposedly high calibre hotel brand to mislead guests by not disclosing this fact at the outset. They’ve had since March to ameliorate the situation but have chosen not to.

: It was a nice view and had a very nice classy beach atmosphere as well as cute outdoor amenities like rocking chairs and pool.
: It seemed like they focused more on decor and aesthetics than the actual rooms. It would have been nice to see a little more attention to making the room more worth the price than having a fancy restaurant or free apples.
