: My sister and I had the private deluxe king suite which is lovely (updated from queen). Living area with reading material and television and sleeper couch (futon pictured no longer there) dining area with table and chairs next to the kitchen area which was one counter. The bathroom was large with a big shower. My favorite part in the bathroom was the nightlight! Thank you Luann. The bedroom had a king bed that was very comfortable. We also appreciated the fact that the Kennicott shuttle picked us up so we didn't have to make the 4 hour drive ourselves. The shuttle picked us up at 7:15am and we returned on the shuttle the following day after spending a night at the Kennicott Lodge. Do not attempt to drive the McCarthy Road as it is a potholed dangerous dirt road. We saw 2 cars in the ditch, and others with flat tires. This is out in the country, so don't expect to walk a couple blocks for a snack. Bring your own. Also it says mile 105 Old Richardson Hwy, but there are no mileposts on Old Richardson! At least I didn't see any. And it isn't directly on the hwy. Go to their website for accurate directions. You need to turn on Church Lane, it's not directly on Old Richardson Hwy, and I can't see that lane named on other websites. The house and property are beautiful and it is too bad that COVID has so dampened hosts' interaction with guests. I would have liked to stay there longer under different circumstances to take advantage of the outdoor facilities.
: When I made the reservation months before I am positive it said free breakfast. When we arrived on the 24th the owner met us on the stairway and asked, "Did you get my message?" "No." She had sent a message the day before our arrival informing us that there was no breakfast served due to COVID and apparently she hadn't been serving for several months although Trip Advisor still says Free Breakfast and it says "fully stocked breakfast" on their website. She did say there were grocery stores nearby - 5 miles? Anyway, it felt quite unwelcoming. She did have 3 packages of instant oatmeal, and coffee in the room - the variety that was there had nuts and I was not eating nuts. Fortunately Kathy and I had our own food for breakfast so we didn't need to go grocery shopping. She may have had a bad day as the second night we stayed there she was friendlier. No more breakfast items however. We stayed at other B&B's on this trip where, if breakfast wasn't served in the kitchen (two did fix a full breakfast) other accommodations to comply with COVID restrictions were followed: Given access to a well stocked kitchen where we fixed our own breakfast or in two other places where there were supplies on a counter - toaster, bread, muffins (wrapped), cold cereal, instant oatmeal, tea, coffee, and a fridge with juice, yogurt, milk, hard boiled eggs. One wouldn't have to have all of that, but yogurt and juice are easy to keep and fresh muffins, too. Guests wore masks and socially distanced at tables or could bring food back to their rooms.
