Disappointing

: Our first 'vacation' after 18 months of being cooped up. We were happy to just be OUT, but when we arrived, our spirits quickly sank. While we were happy to just be away from home - I thought $300 a night meant 'good'. Nope. Not good. No breakfast, no bar, no pool, no lounge, no hammocks, not even a 'nice' area to sit outside. A parking lot, a dock and a tiny houseboat with NO amenities (unless you count bars of soap and paper towels as amenities. There was literally nothing to like about this place. At all. OH. It has free WiFi. That's literally all that was 'offered'.
: I thought "a houseboat, how cool" and then saw a series of pictures of the one that I was interested in. The photos showed a large, roomy, wood floor living room, large separate bedrooms (2), a winding staircase to the flat roof of the houseboat for sunning or sunsets. I was so excited about that, I forgot to look if it had amenities. Which it did not. As a common practice, we were subject to a 'bait and switch' and I found several other posters say the same thing AFTER we left. What we found was a TINY (ie 180 Sq Ft) hallway with two beds actually IN the hallway (no walls, no separation) - one about 4 feet from the chemical toilet, which did not 'flush' as much as 'dump' waste into a hole. No pool, no walkways, no beach, no hammocks, literally nothing. It's a marina, period. No lounge, no welcome center, no nothing. And for almost $300 a night it was STAGGERINGLY overpriced. My thoughts were perhaps if desperate, maybe $50 a night at best. It was filled with mosquitoes, bugs and now, we fear, bedbugs as we both have red bumps on our stomachs and legs. There were NO tables (we dragged in a stained patio table from outside), no lamps or lights (only one 7/11 type overhead light), no chairs (only a sticky couch we both felt hesitant about sitting on until we Lysol'd it. We felt incredibly insecure and unsafe, the place had NO security, no safety precautions and our "door" ( a slider right INTO the "bed" area) with no extra locks, only that little lever that comes with all sliding doors, no chains, nothing. All night we felt people we outside our window or door, rattling handles. NEVER AGAIN! "Beds" were about 2" thick, a camping bed actually and HARD as a rock.
