  : Yes, the hotel is old, and it is historic. This is a hotel that differs from many others. The room was nice and decent and relatively clean. Very convenient location right on the main street in Placerville. All in all, a pleasant stay and I really recommend everyone to try a night or two at Cary House. There is nothing to be scared about here (except from the price level, maybe). Incidentally, I saw no ghosts during my stay. The closest I got to ghosts must have been one of the employees at reception who looked like a ghost when I had some questions along the way.
  : The old and the historic have their charm, but nevertheless some maintenance and upgrades must be done. It must be possible to get rid of the terrible smell in the gangways and the reception area and still keep the old and historic. Ahead of my stay, I had some questions which I communicated via the messaging service on the booking page I used. My request was never answered.

  : Nothing. It was advertised handicapped accessible but it was not. Not in any way.
  : Smelled like mold, the carpet was filthy, we booked a suite but it was hardly that and it was not handicapped accessible even though the web page advertised it was. My husband was unable to get in the bathroom. We stayed one day of a three day stay. The staff was rude

  : Location was great. The hotel has lots of history including that its haunted. Sorry, didnt see any ghosts. Lol
  : The front desk people are not very friendly. They are not rude but just not friendly. At one point a young women and man looked like they were boyfriend and girlfriend hanging out at the front desk. The rooms need to be upgraded and the beds were old and pretty much worn out. The balcony on the second floor was closed.

  : Paid the full non refundable amount .we received our confirmation and payment receipt we arrived at 445 pm to check in to be told that they didn't have any rooms available. Still haven't received a refund or confirmation one has been sent

  : The beds, the mattresses are old and the frames were broken which caused a very uncomfortable sleep.

  : This hotel was centrally located for wedding festivities so we loved the location. There is a lot of history in Placerville and at the hotel. It was modernized the best you can starting with the 1850's establishment. It was great to be on Main Street in old-town Placerville. If you like old, possibly haunted places to stay, this is a good one.
  : The staff is a little "grumpy" on checking in guests.

  : The hotel itself was very nice. Nicley decorated in 1800s fashiom.
  : I did care how i was treated by the night manager. Upon arrival i was told the my room was not ready and the only thing they could do was upgrade me to a better room but i would to have to pay the the extra 11 dollars.I said that was unprofesionable.
